What's It All About?
Two years ago I decided to upload my old VHS video collection of sport to youtube. The tapes were lying around in boxes in my garage slowly rotting away and I was on the point of throwing them away. I knew little about youtube or how to upload them, but I learned quickly and the TJS Sports channel was born.
Over 4000 uploads later I am nearing the end of the tapes I have. As a sports fanatic who has thoroughly enjoyed looking back over the memorable moments between 1984 and 2000 on my videos I wanted to watch more videos by other contributors.
As you will probably know, finding the video you want on youtube is a total nightmare. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it's a frustrating experience. Try searching for 'Football' and you will be submerged with more American Football games than you can handle. Quality is also an issue, as is length of a clip.
So I decided to try and create my own list of links to sport over the years. That's all this website is, a subjective list of links to famous sporting events, presented in chronological format. A user friendly way to find and watch memorable sport in a couple of clicks.
The links included on this site follow (more or less) the following rules:
1) The videos and the sports I have selected are mainly UK centric.
2) The clips are ideally up to 10 minutes in length (full game recordings have been ignored).
3) Videos are of a decent quality that are watchable.
4) Videos without commentary or with a foreign commentary have been largely ignored.
5) The sports I have chosen reflect my own preferences. They are the ones that interest me.
6) The videos I have selected are (I hope) entertaining and of historical interest.
I chose 1958 as my starting point as that was the year I was born. My intention is to continue building this site until it is up to date.
The links to videos given here are mostly from youtube, but there are some to Dailymotion (who are more liberal concerning copyright) and some to other sites.
